Documentation

The method documentation ships inside ErgoSphere. The built-in Knowledge Base carries a full write-up for every tool: what the method is, when it applies, how to run it, a worked example, its limitations and the source literature.

Release Notes

What changed in every version, tool by tool, back to 1.0. Worth checking first if a behaviour has moved since you last updated.

The ones people ask

Answered here so you do not have to wait two business days for them. If yours is not below, the form underneath reaches a person.

Which operating systems does ErgoSphere run on?

ErgoSphere is a native Windows 10 and 11 desktop application. There is no macOS or Linux build, and no browser version. The free ErgoSphere Viewer is Windows only as well.

Does it need an internet connection?

Day to day, no. Every tool, project file and report works offline, because the work is all local. The standard licence revalidates its key online about once a week - the key and a machine hash, never your data - and updates arrive through Windows App Installer.

If the machine is deployed, air-gapped or otherwise permanently disconnected, ask us for an offline activation. Once applied, the software makes no licence connections at all.

Where are my project files stored, and can you see them?

Project files are ordinary local files on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded, synced or cached off the machine, and there is no telemetry. We never hold your work, so there is nothing for us to see, lose, or be compelled to hand over.

That also means backing them up is yours to do, the same as any other document on your disk.

I have forgotten the password on an encrypted project. Can you recover it?

No, and this is the one support request we genuinely cannot help with. ErgoSphere uses client-side, zero-knowledge encryption: the key never leaves your machine and we never held it. There is no master key, no reset link and no back door - that is the property the design exists to guarantee.

Keep encrypted project passwords wherever your organisation keeps its other credentials.

My licence key will not activate.

Check first that the key was pasted whole, with no trailing space, and that the machine can reach the internet for the initial activation. If it still refuses, email support with the key and the exact message on screen and we will sort it out.

Moving to a new machine, or reimaging the one you have, changes the machine hash. Tell us and we will release the old activation.

How do I send an assessment to a client who has no licence?

Export it as a .ergview file. Your client opens it in the free ErgoSphere Viewer - no account, no licence key, no activation - and can walk the task analysis, trace the bowtie, read the issued report page for page, and send review comments back to you in the same file.

Reviewers, engineers and safety leads never need a paid seat. Only the practitioners running the analysis do.

What does my IT or security team need before approving the install?

ErgoSphere and the Viewer are distributed as signed MSIX packages under a DigiCert Extended Validation certificate issued to Ergonomics Engineered Pty Ltd. All work stays local, there is no cloud account and no analytics.

For the paperwork, we hand any client IT department the full System Architecture Document and Security & Data Privacy whitepaper on request - both are listed on the Engineering Record. Ask us and we will send them.

How do I check how a method was verified?

Every method is checked against the published source that defined it, and the working is written up as a verification and validation dossier. The Dossier Project explains how that is run; the Engineering Record lists every controlled document on file with its number, version and issue date.

Dossiers are released on request under NDA. Ask about the method you actually rely on.

Something in a tool disagrees with the published method. What do I do?

Tell us, please - that is the most valuable report we receive. Send the method, what you expected from the source, what the tool produced, and the reference you are reading from.

Departures found this way are recorded against the method in its dossier rather than quietly patched, so the correction is visible to anyone who later asks how that method was verified.

I am a student, or serving in Defence. Do I use this page for licence problems?

For technical problems, yes - same queue as everyone else. For anything about the licence itself, including renewals, start from the student page or the Defence page, since renewal runs off the address your licence was issued to.
